Toy Safety/Parents Can Help
- Choose toys that are right for your child's age, skill level and interest. (Read the toy's labeling.)
- Avoid using latex balloons, use mylar balloons instead. (Latex balloons are a common choking hazard.)
- Make sure toys are used in safe environments. (Keeping balls and riding toys away from the stairs.)
- Supervise your child's play.
- Store toys for older children separately from toys used by younger children.
- Keep small parts away from children under age 3.
- Check toys regularly for damage and other hazards.
- Stay up-to-date on toy recalls through the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
